DutyCalc — US Tariff Exposure for Shopify catalogs
Last updated: May 22, 2026
DutyCalc collects only the minimum data needed to audit catalog tariff exposure and provide duty calculations:
DutyCalc requests product write access so merchants can explicitly save reviewed HS/HTS code and country-of-origin values to Shopify variant metafields. DutyCalc does not make hidden product edits or background catalog changes.
Duty rate lookups are processed through the USTariffRates.com API. Only HS/HTS code, country of origin, shop identifier, and lookup context needed for usage/caching are transmitted. Customer personal data is not sent.
Lookup results may be cached for performance and plan enforcement. Shop settings, usage records, and cached lookup results are deleted when you uninstall the app or when Shopify sends a shop erasure request.
DutyCalc supports all mandatory Shopify privacy webhooks: customer data requests, customer data erasure, and shop data erasure. Because DutyCalc does not store personal customer data, customer-level requests are acknowledged automatically.
